LotRO Lore-master Raven Guide

The Raven

First attained at level 4, the summoned Raven is two levels lower than the Lore-master so be sure to resummon when you level up. When called, the Raven grants the group +15% Shadow damage mitigation which makes it useful in certain situations, mostly high level.

It has three special abilities:

  • Benediction of the Raven: Reduces fire mitigation by -10%. This provides an extra couple of points of damage when you cast your mainstay damage spell: Burning Embers. The Raven comes with this skill at L2 (LM L4).
  • Distraction: Reduces ranged damage by -50% and increases miss chance by 10%. This is great against ranged opponents since their damage output is so much higher than melee mobs. However, this is a channeled spell and your Raven will do no other attack against the opponent while this is maintained. There is also a damage component to this spell a small Light based damage over time (changed from direct damage as of Book 11.) The Raven gains this skill at L8 (LM level 10).
  • Evasion: This is a self-buff for the Raven granting it +50% Evade chance, +20% Common damage (physical) mitigation and +30% Shadow damage mitigation. I don’t know what level this is attained at yet. Will update when I get the skill.

Ravens, as with all pets, also have a random chance to proc a Flank debuff which I will cover in my next Lore-master article.

Ravens can be summoned with different skin textures: white, red and brown. This is done by wearing a special Amulet during the summoning. More information can be found on the Lore-master Amulet page.

At lower levels, this pet is little more than a low damage DoT. It can’t take too many hits and doesn’t do a great deal of damage. This may change at higher level.  As a solo pet, it’s passable until you can call a Bear at L14. In groups, it may be preferable, but the bear also provides offtanking.
