New Feral Cat Druid resource page project

Feral Cat Druid, Feral Cat Gear, Guide, WoW, Wrath of the Lich King No Comments »

Since I’ve started collecting WoW links every day for The Daily Druid, I’ve decided to place them all onto one page and keep that page updated. I’ve put together the first one: Resource Page for Feral Cat Druids. I’ll work on pages for the other specs soon. Below is all the links I’m starting with. If you know of a resource you don’t see below, let me know here.

Druid AddOns

Unbearably HoT goes in-depth on two AddOns that help you keep track of your HoTs, DoTs and even debuffs. I’m going to have to try the first one.

Feral Bear Tank News

Karthis at Of Teeth and Claws explains not only why Barkskin is such a valuable tanking tool, but why the T7 4-set bonus that grants an extra 3 seconds to it makes the bonus one of the best in the current game. While you’re checking that out, don’t forget to read his Druid Tanking Overview. It never hurts to brush up on the basics.

Updated Druid Gear Lists

According to Flyv, Emmerald has updated his popular Druid Feral gear rankings and is current to 3.0.8 changes. While some would argue Rawr provides the definitive Druid gear ranking, Emmerald is great for a quick look at what’s next on the gear upgrade list.

WoW: Feral Cat Druid Drops In Zul’Aman

Feral Cat Druid, Feral Cat Gear, WoW 1 Comment »

I just wrote a lengthy post on WoW Insider for the weekly Shifting Perspectives Druid column going over all the Druid loot that’s dropping in Zul’Aman. Here are the highlights for Cat Druids:

2H STAFF: [item]Primal Man-catcher[/item] – +973 feral atk power? +49 strength? +315 armor negation? I’ll take two, please.

HEAD: [item]Grimgrin Faceguard[/item] – 4th best feral cat helm in the game. You wanna ask Illidan for the best one? I didn’t think so.

SHOULDERS: [item]Shoulderpads of Dancing Blades[/item] – A solid upgrade if you’re new to raiding. Get ready to /roll against Rogues.

TRINKET: [item]33831[/item] – This Trinket will replace [item]Bloodlust Brooch[/item] since they share the same cooldown.

WAIST: [item]33211[/item] – One of the top 2 -3 belts in the game. An upgrade from the Karazhan Cat belt, but you can still get better if you can find a raider to craft you the [item]Belt of Deep Shadow[/item].

Check out the full article for more details.

WoW: Primal Man-Catcher Had Me At Hello

Feral Cat Gear, WoW 1 Comment »

I know I promised a write up soon on the [item]Cloak of Darkness[/item], but the new Patch 2.3 loot on the PTR has me overwhelmed. Until I get my act together, I leave you with this new weapon dropping in from Hex Lord Malacrass in Zul’Aman: [item]Primal Man-Catcher[/item].

With +973 atk in feral forms and the +2-4% dps boost of the Armor Penetration, I might have to take up Raiding again.

WoW: New feral equipment upgrades in Patch 2.3

Feral Cat Gear, WoW No Comments »

Lots of news coming from the Blizzard developers about feral upgrades in Patch 2.3. First:

For items that grant attack power in Cat, Bear, Dire Bear, and Moonkin forms, in general we are planning to increase the amount of attack power they give. (source)

What else is there to say, but yay! This is great news for cat and bear druids. It’s not so earth shattering for Moonkins, but many of our Balance brethren enjoying adding melee damage to their spell damage and some like to tank (!!).

WoW: Guide To Making Shadowprowler’s Chestguard

Feral Cat Gear, WoW 5 Comments »

Looking deeper into the components necessary to craft the new [item]33204[/item], I see that us non-raiding feral cat druids have a few obstacles ahead of us.

Obstacle #1 is to find a Leatherworker Revered with Violet Eye (Karazhan) faction to purchase the pattern and willing to part with the two [item]Primal Nether[/item]s necessary.

Obstacle #2 is gathering the components. Here is the breakdown of what’s needed (all AH prices listed are my server):

  • 10 [item]Heavy Knothide Leather[/item] – gather the components to create this yourself if you’re a skinner or buy them off the AH at 1g each. 1g x 10 = 10g total.

WoW: Replacing Primalstrike Set For Cat Druids

Feral Cat Gear, WoW 3 Comments »

The crafted leather Primalstrike 3-piece armor set has been unbeatable for non-raiding feral cat druids. Elemental Leatherworkers can craft the BoP [item]Primalstrike Vest[/item], [item]Primalstrike Belt[/item] and [item]Primalstrike Bracers[/item] for 3 Primal Nethers, 14 Primal Mights and 12 Heavy Knothide Leathers. Though there were individual upgrades, losing the +40ap bonus for equipping all three pieces wasn’t worth breaking up the set. Until now.

With Patch 2.2 comes the crafted [item]33204[/item]. An upgrade to the Karazhan drop [item]Chestguard of the Conniver[/item] and equivalent to the T4 [item]29096[/item]. Drop in some AGI gems if your AP is over 2600 and let the good times roll.

But what about the other two pieces in the set? With set bonus gone, there are many good upgrade options for both slots.
